April 2016 was the month I finally committed to a new direction for my blog. You may have noticed a few changes in the way my blog looks. Even more noticeably, I have decided to change the name of my blog to 'Where in the World?' to reflect the new travel and lifestyle angle my blog will be taking. That is not to say my blog will no longer feature beauty posts, as of course that is still one of my passions.

I'm currently in the process of planning a few travel trips which you will hear about in the coming weeks. One involves me, my boyfriend and a little red Peugeot trailing around central Europe. Another, involves a year-long tour of Asia, which I have previously mentioned. The details of my year living in Ningbo, China are almost finalized, and yesterday I selected my living accommodation! It's costing a whopping £980 for a year of private living, extortionate I know! Planning my entry in to Asia has been a little more difficult, and pricey. As many of you will know, China is not the easiest country to enter, particularly for long-term trips.

Some of you may be unaware, but the reason I will be living in Asia is because I currently study Mandarin and International relations here in the UK. The university year is almost over, I just have 3 weeks of exams left to go! As such, the past couple have weeks have involved pretending to revise while my flatmates and I gallivant around Nottingham city center in the rain at all hours gorging on Thai food, heckling at varsity hockey matches and playing paintball. It's odd knowing that I probably won't see some of the best friends I've made at university after this year is over. While I'm off to China, others are off to Malaysia, Canada and Belgium.

I hope April has treated you all well, I would love to know about how your month went in the comments.

The last time I spoke to you all it was Summer 2015 and I hadn't even started university yet. Fast forward and I'm preparing to leave my first year at the University of Nottingham studying Chinese and International Relations and organising my plans for Summer 2016. I have to say, this one should be much more exciting. I plan on doing a road trip of Europe with my lovely boyfriend, which I will be sure to document on this blog.

You may notice over the next few weeks my blog layout will once again change. Potentially the biggest change will be the renaming of my blog. I plan on gearing my blog more towards lifestyle and travel in the future - largely because at age 19 I'm not nearly as fascinated by lipstick and mascara as I was at 14 years old. My new blog name and layout will reflect the change in direction of my writing. If you guys have any suggestions of things you'd like to see, do let me know! I've relaunched my email address and Twitter and will be open to correspondance once again!

Helloooo lovely bloggers. I've got to say it still feels pretty weird writing blog posts again, like a blast from the past! As you might tell by the tone of this post its been a really good results day, at least its been a much more positive experience than last year! If you remember my results post from last year you might remember that I wasnt entirely happy with my AABCD at AS Level. And if you dont remember my last results day post, you certainly wont remember that I was studying French, Spanish, Politics, Economics and General Studies. Well fast forward a year and the Economics has long gone, and I've managed to resit my way to a B in French, an A in Spanish, an A in Politics and an A in General Studies. Thankfully I surpassed my university offer to study Chinese and International Relations at Nottingham which is where you'll find me in a months time! I'm super excited for whatever uni life will bring, although pretty disappointed I have the leave the 3-month Summer bubble and actually do some work for once.

Congratulations to my fellow A Level-ers, and good luck to my GCSE student followers for next Thursday! I'd love to know your plans for the future!

You may have to excuse the fact this post is in fact over a month late, but as you may have noticed I haven't necessarily been all that present throughout exam season. However, as in A Is For Ayla tradition, I'm writing once again to thank everyone who reads my blog. Whether you've stuck around for the whole 4 years, or just joined last week, thank you so much for all your lovely comments and inspiration, theres plenty more to come!

This is just a simple makeup look I wore to a party on Friday. The party was casual so I decided not to play up the eyes. Instead I went for my everyday eye with a tiny bit of brown run through the crease, the same brown I used to soften up my brows. As for lips and cheeks, this has become my favourite combo, the shades compliment eachother perfectly! It's slightly brighter than I would wear for an everyday as usually I'm all about the contour, It was nice to go all girly and pink for a night.

Autumn Sunset is definitely my favourite of the three Natural Collection Lipsticks I've reviewed this month. It's an odd colour to describe really, a pinky, browny, nudey colour with a hint of peach glitter running through it. 'Autumn Sunset' really is the perfect autumn colour for those who aren't brave enough to try out the dark plums and purples. It follows the same formulation as 'Sorbet', the one that I really like! It's a sheer wash of colour but it's not buildable, the colour you see on first swatch is the colour you get. Despite that It's a really pretty shade with a great application, I can see me going through this in no time!

This Thursday I turn 18, and considering this year I didn't do my typical 'New Years Resolutions' post, I decided to combine the two, and create 18 resolutions for my 18th year!

1. Quality over quantity

I've been thinking about this for a while now, but I'd quite like to create a more 'capsule wardrobe' as so often I buy pretty clothes that frankly, don't go with anything. I'm also an absolute killer when it comes to seasonal shopping. 90% of my wardrobe in floral skirts I don't get any use of outside of the month of July. I'd like to save more money buying less 'trend' and seasonal pieces, and use that money to buy a few really high quality pieces. (Even thought I got a £220 Jaeger dress for £7.20 yesterday - who said January sales were a bust?)

2. Read more

I've improved a lot in terms of reading more history books, partially because of my seemingly endless EPQ on Chinese culture and population demographics. I'm making a commitment to buying more books of all kinds! I bought the famous 'Gone Girl' over Christmas which I'm excited to read!

3. Put more effort in to cooking

I'm getting better at this, buying better quality, more exotic ingredients and spend more time making meals out of them. I've become obsessed with South American food at the moment (gracias a mis Argentinian and Colombian friends for that one!) and I'd love to learn how to cook more oriental dishes, especially as I'll be living in China as early as next year!

4. Don't go overboard on the drinking.

I get that you're 18, but drinking at 18 isn't much different to drinking at 17, Rachael.

5. Learn to drive (maybe)

I was initially very excited to start driving at age 17 up until I got realistic and realized paying thousands of pounds to start driving wasn't exactly logical considering I'll be living inner-city and abroad for the next couple of years, although its something I'd still like to do If I had the money lying about.

6. Pick a sport

Any sport.

7. Continue with my other languages

I've lost a few languages over the years, and as I go to university, It's likely I'l lose my French and Spanish as I don't have formal lessons it in anymore. It's going to take a lot of effort to maintain my European languages while living in Asia too.

8. Walk more

When I was in high school I was obsessed with walking. I'm pretty blessed that I live in the middle of several valleys, and right on the cusp of the Yorkshire Dales and not too far from the Pennines or the Lake District either. I'd like to make more use out of it before I move inner city, as its something I've always really enjoyed, and it can be rather beneficial for the health too!

9. Try an entirely fresh diet for a period of time

I'm quite keen on eating as much fresh food as possible (and admittedly force feeding my guy friends fresh tomatoes at every given opportunity, who said I wasn't maternal?) not necessarily because its healthier, but because I feel a lot more clean and productive when I eat fresh. There's something a bit about fresh berries that makes me feel a bit more 'alive', as opposed to frozen berries.

10. Get up earlier

Once of a time I hated everything about getting up at 6am everyday, although I'm learning to love it. I feel so much more productive. I'd like to make sure I always get up early on weekends too.

11. Try more foods

I'll admit I'm not the bravest person. Stick a quince in my face and I'll probably squeal. To say I've been on this planet 18 years there are far too many foods I haven't tried before.

12. Travel a lot more

Probably the most exciting thing about being 18 for me is finally being able to book my own flights, instead of having to rely on my parents and 18 year old friends. I'm off on my first no parents, no teachers, friends holiday abroad in July, and I've got plenty of other trips planned. I'll make it my goal to always have at least 2 upcoming trips and any one time!

13. Get to an 'ideal' body weight.

My idea of an 'ideal' body weight is always changing. It's silly to give myself goals too high so I prefer smaller goals. In the past sixth month I've allowed myself to put on 5.1% body weight, which now means I'm in the 'Normal' BMI bracket for the first time since being a toddler!

14. Run for charity

I've always wanted to do things like mud runs, colour runs ect. but my weight had prohibited me in the past. As my weight increased as my body gets healthier I'd love to give as many charity runs as possible a go!

15. Volunteer more

I've enjoyed being a children's volunteer at a local library, organizing events and learning programmes for under 13's. I think any kind of volunteering always has a positive effect.

16. Be more friendly

It would be fair to say I haven't always been the most welcoming face at times (resting bitch face is a serious condition) and as you get older, keeping yourself to yourself only isolates you more as you don't get the same opportunities to sit with your friends in class ect.

17. Value sleep more

enough said!

18. Appreciate everything, even the small things

or especially the small things! Sometimes my expectations and my standards become too high, for myself and for others. Sometimes I need to remember to be thankful for the things I have and the privileged country I live in.

(so apparently I forgot to publish this, all those many months ago!)

So if you follow me on Instagram, you'll know in July I went through the entire Oxford and Cambridge open days process, it was tiring to say the least. I'd visited Oxford several times before and always enjoy it, Cambridge I can only say was an experience. Sometimes you don't quite realize the differences between the North and the South until you find yourself part of a group of 60 Northern 17 year olds conferring "its so flat, the ground, its so flat" "is that the sea? oh no its just the horizon" god knows how I'll cope not living in the Northern countryside.

Although the trip was mainly educational, we did fit in a few touristy things - even if they were of a nerdy nature. On our way back from a lecture at the Oriental Institute, me and a friend (who will be studying Japanese, as I am Chinese) bobbed in at the Ashmolean Museum for research purposes.

Quite a few of my teachers at Sixth Form were Oxford & Cambridge educated, so in the evenings they took us on guided tours around the city and all the sites of importance. On several occasions, we ended us at G&Ds ice cream bar, which I'm told is pretty infamous among students. Although I didn't take any photos, my rural, Northern taste buds were introduced to a few 'delicacies', one of which included an 8am lemon sorbet, lemonade concoction. Being allergic to citrus fruit, its a wonder I made it back up North alive.

Just in case you forgot, I'm Rachael, I'm 17 and I'm technically the owner and not-so-regular poster of A Is For Ayla. I'll be honest and come out and say it, for a while I've sort of avoided my blog, I'm not sure whether It's because I feel out of the circle, or it's because I dread logging on and being faced with a list of 280 posts I feel just aren't 'me' anymore. Either way, occasionally I have thought about logging back on and having a browse about, I love seeing how lots of my old friends and followers are doing, and how their lives have changed. I can tell you now, my life has changed a fair amount.

I won't promise I'll post regular beauty posts from now on, because the reality is I just don't *care* about it as much as I used to. However moving away from one interest only means moving closer towards another. I'm lucky enough to be coming in to that part in life where I have access to some pretty nice sums of money, but don't have the restraints of a full time job to content with. As a result, I've found myself travelling around a lot. I'd love to share all the things I'm doing, and all the places I'm travelling to, but only if you'd like to read it!

I guess more than anything this was a post to let you all know I am still alive, just in case you ever remembered my blog as I remembered a lot of yours!

I appreciate I haven't exactly been the most active blogger in the past year, partly down to exams, work, moving schools and whatever else the average 17 year old has going on. I even feel the need to address the fact that yes, I am 17 now, just in case you didn't know (let's be honest you probably didn't I've been so absent). It almost makes me feel guilty writing this post as the point in posting to day is it thank all my lovely readers, followers, guest posters, PR amigos of the past year for being so fabulous. Today is actually A Is For Ayla's 3rd birthday. Quite odd to think that if my blog were a baby (pretty sure I used this analogy last year ...and the year before) It'd now be a toddler.

A huge thank you to everyone I've worked with over the past year. Everyday I receive so many lovely emails from new bloggers seeking advice, old bloggers I haven't spoke to in a while and an ever increasing number of PR fairies. Despite not posting, I have been responding to the majority of emails relating AIFA, don't think I forgot about you altogether! Thanks to everyone that joined the AIFA familia this year, hopefully I'll still be back to post this time next year.

Aswell as being the winner of 'The Most Difficult Product To Photograph' in my own personal blog awards, the Clarins one-step cleasner was also hailed the 'Best Cleanser' from 'In Style' 2007 Best Beauty Buys. Since then it's recieved rave reviews so I figured I'd give it a go because unlike many hype skincare product this comes in at £19. It has a peachy scent to go with the coloured liquid, probably not one for those with a sensitive nose as it is quite strong. It's a nice soft cleanser to be used without water, but is extremley poor at removing eye makeup or liquid foundation. I think this is a cleanser for those who don't wear makeup on a daily basis really and so, as a beauty blogger this really wasn't worth the money. I can recommend this for those who wear very little makeup or want a simple cleanser for mornings. For those who wear much more makeup or have sensitive skin I would not recommend.

You may recognise this lipstick from my 'What I Got For Christmas Haul'. It <strike>is</strike> was a staple in my everyday makeup look because its a gorgeous mid-pink that adds a hint of colour to the face, perfect for a dreary Winter day. It's of the 'Frost' formulation, ideally I wouldn't pick this formula but the shade was too pretty not to buy. The thing about 'frosts' are that they have a small amount of sheeny-glitter, as apposed to a glossy or a matte finish. It does feel slightly grainy on the lips and can settle in the crevices of the lips if you don't blend it out (not necessarily with a brush, fingers work well too) straight after applying. In the bullet it is a little harder and drier than your typical lipstick, but it's really not much of a problem. I know I've said a couple of negative things about this lipstick, however it is a good, easy everyday shade that stays on the lips for ages and smells pretty good too! Not sure if it's worth the £14 price tag so I'm currently looking out for a dupe to compare it to for all those who want the shade without the price. Annoyingly I lost this lipstick at school however I will undoubtedly repurchase, probably for the novelty really!

While the weathers terrible, I figured it might be nice to share some of my trip to the South. The weather in there is always 10x better than up here in the North, can you believe it didn't rain once in the entire week I was there?! We traveled around quite a bit, we managed to cover Oxford, Windsor, Eton, Warwick and some other smaller places. Probably the most momentous occasion was when I VISITED BICESTER VILLAGE, yes, I had my first experience of discount Vivienne Westwood. I have to say, I didn't actually buy a lot as the stock is generally pretty bad in outlets, but I did get a few bits and bobs.

Between all of the photos above (of which some are disastrous in quality, sorry, I was too busy being a tourist to check them) we've pretty much covered both city Oxford and University Oxford. Call me a massive nerd but there's something about the Bodleian Library that makes the language student within me want to cry like a fan girl. Writing this post is particularly exciting for me as I'm rekindling my love affair with the South in a few weeks. I'll be going down to Oxford and Cambridge in a few weeks for University trips. Provided this more lifestyle-y type of post goes down swimmingly with you guys, I may treat you to Part 2 - Eton & Windsor, and perhaps Part 3 - Uni trips soon!

I'm forever getting emails from new or slightly less experienced bloggers looking for tips on increasing their traffic or getting their name out there. I'm all for giving back some of the support I've gained over the years, and so I created a mini-series of Blog Tips and Tricks. It's been a while since I've posted any recently, so I'm kicking it all back off with some core tips on searching techniques.

Sometimes on blogs their choice of words, titles or paragraph structure may seem a little odd to read. Theres two main possible reasons for this - either writing isn't their biggest strength, or their using SEO.

SEO stands for Search Engine Optimisation. To break it down further, its a method used by website owners to make their site (or blog in this case) more search friendly. Whether this be with Google, BING or any other search engine, a series of steps can make your blog much more likeable and therefore increase your traffic by leaps and bounds.

I know SEO is very controversial with bloggers as some people feel it gets out of control and their blogs become method written. Personally, I use a small amount of SEO as I'm not really interested in making money from my blog but still want to get the most out of blogging. I think for an independent, personal blog too much SEO can really ruin it. Of course, for those who blog for a living, I'd say its just a way of earning more money, and there's nothing wrong with that. How much SEO you use on your blog is completely up to you. For a while I was quite anti it, as I was with sponsoring and money making in general. Times change and now that I know how, I can fully control how much SEO (and indeed "sponsoring") I use. Below I've listed the methods I use and later on I briefly mention a few methods used by other blogs and websites.

The biggest and best form of SEO in my eyes is the way you title your work. The first obvious title is your blog name. There are two ways you can go - come up with an original, personal name you really like and use SEO in other ways (like I did), or you can use SEO in your blog name. For example, if your blog is a nail themed blog written by and for teenagers, a blog title such a 'Teenage Nail Art Blog' will do you pretty well in terms of SEO. That way, you've opened yourself up to many different types of searches including those for teen blogs, nail blogs and nail art tutorials, all of which are common searches.

If you use an image header like me (i.e you upload the image of the writing, rather than use the pre-set Blogger headers) then you can cheat slightly. My header at the top of this page only says 'A Is For Ayla' however, if you're a follower of mine you'll notice that on the reading list my blog shows up as 'A Is For Ayla: A British Teen Beauty Blog' - linking back to the whole 'opening yourself up to different types of searches'. I'll admit personally that ever since I changed my blog title I've seen an enormous rise is traffic from 'teen blog' or 'uk beauty blog' searches. Its worth thinking about if you find that your lovely, unique blog title isn't getting you noticed by search engines.

As well as your blog title, you need to think about your actual post titles. This is particularly difficult for fashion bloggers, not so much for beauty, lifestyle or cookery blogs. For beauty blogs, really think about what the key words for that particular post is. E.g 'Fridays FOTN' will not stand a chance against 'Night Makeup: Black Smoky Eye Using Drugstore Cosmetics'. Again its all about using the exact (or similar) words that searchers of Google ect. will use to find your post. Generally the longer the title the better, fit in as many key words as you can without being silly with it. This is one of the most noticeable types of SEO and it can annoy readers if you go too far. Scrolling down my reading list its very easy for me to see who uses SEO by reading their post titles.

There's a lot more I could say on the matter, and time permitting I will. Half of you have probably switched off by now so I'll come back soon and do a Part 2 and possibly further ones. I hope this post was helpful, let me know if there's anything else specific you'd like to know!

My family are probably some of the biggest L'Occitane users out there. Between us, we've probably got every item in the store covered. There's just something about the formulas, packaging, marketing and even the staff in their lovely stores (ladies at Leeds you are wonderful!) that makes the whole L'Occitane experience so amazing. This is all the more exciting as I'm pretty sure this will be one of the most expensive beauty items ever featured on AIFA!

Immortelle, their anti-ageing line, has received masses of rave reviews and for many people, it has been hailed at a 'miracle' solution to ageing skin. Personally, I wasn't jumping out of my seat to try this for obvious reasons - I'm still a teenager. I left the testing to the older women in my family. I'm not the most observant person in the world so usually I would barely notice changes brought on my anti-ageing creams however, this product is so so different from the rest. You can noticeably see the difference within quite a short period of time. The thing I love the most about it is the 'glow' you get, it's really like no other I've seen from a product!

The Immortelle Divine Cream claims to lighten dark spots, refine facial contours and lift features amongst many others. I noticed such an improvement in their skin that I have started to use this every now and then. To see the best results, it's advised you apply morning and night to the face and neck area, avoiding the eyes. An intriguing part of the Immortelle line is their research conducted, some of the results were so surprising! You can read some of the testing results here!

Aaaaand now on to the price and availability section. I've been dreading this for the past 10 minutes! I won't lie and say its affordable for the average person. I wouldn't say it was a product worth having just to use a few times a month either. I'd advise it for those who are becoming serious about caring for their skin and 'reversing' the signs of ageing. I'm glad to see L'Occitane stores popping up all over the place recently. In the North West, I know of boutique stores in Leeds, Manchester Trafford and York. You can also find them as a concession in many stores and smaller, independent boutiques apothecaries.

Lets pretend I haven't been missing for several months and cut straight to it. The last time I did one of these life updates, I was studying for my AS Levels in French, Spanish, Politics and Economics (and a few added extras we don't need to discuss). Fast forward to the present, I've got a few so-so grades under by belt. Don't get me wrong they weren't tragic, but they weren't half as good as they could have been. This year I've been extra motivated to study more (she says writing a blog post midday on a Thursday sat at home watching Narnia) especially for my current mocks.

I know a lot of my followers are going through the same UCAS applications as me at the moment, so I'll talk a little bit about what I'm up to in terms of University applications, I know I get really curious about what everyone else is doing! If you follow me on Instagram, you'll know I went through the whole Oxford and Cambridge open days <strike>hassle</strike> experience. Although I loved Oxford, I didn't apply, partially because my grades were sightly doubtful (although still enough to get an interview) and because I've found what I would consider to be the perfect course for me elsewhere. I've mentioned it before, but I'm hoping to study something along the lines of Mandarin Chinese with International Relations, with a year abroad in China. I sent my application off in November, and at the moment I've got an offer from Nottingham (my first/only realistic choice), Leeds and Newcastle, as well as an interview at Manchester which I'm considering rejecting. I'm also still waiting for a response from Edinburgh. I'd love to here everybody elses UCAS success stories, or alternatively anybodies advice on university life!

Work wise, although a quit my job at NEXT last September, I've managed to find myself working at another store closer to home. I have to say I do quite enjoy it, I can think of a thousand jobs more torturous!

I hope this post will at least justify my recent absence. Hows everyone else doing?

1. My 16th Birthday

I finally turned 16 on the 22nd January! I planned on having a party and everything but in the end I opted for a quieter birthday. So quiet that I don't have a detailed picture of what I did! I just did some shopping, spent time with family and friends and had a bit of a party!

2. A Friends Party

This is a really random one but this party in particular really stands out for me. I'd had one of the worst days ever and yet one of the best nights ever. I was really at my happiest despite not all of my friends being there. Weird, but I'll remember it forever!

3. My Blogs 2nd Birthday!

Back on the 2nd June my blog turned 2! I was really happy to have made it this far and really thankful for everyone who was still sticking with me.

4. Last Exam - Finishing School!

On the 17th June I had my last exam - geography, a subject I actually like! Only 3 of my friends were actually in on the day so I didn't necessarily spend the day celebrating. It was weird wearing my uniform for the last time and walking over 'the bridge' for the final time as a student!

5. Prom!

I did have a whine and complain about my Prom back on the 28th June but it is a date I'll always remember. It was good to see all of my teachers and my friends I was leaving behind on a more formal goodbye! The after prom was an amazing night too, you don't feel the need to hold back on anything when you know you wont see 90% of the people again!

6. Starting My New Job!

Most people probably dread this but I was really happy to start work at a fashion retail chain. I work as a sales assistant and love every minute of it!

7. Results Day!

Results day was the last time I saw a lot of people. It was great to finally let all the work I did at high school go! In the end I came out with 2A* 8A and 2B.

So if you're one of my older followers you may remember me making a ton of goals and resolutions at the beginning of this year. That included my 100 Goals, but also 13 Resolutions for 2013. I decided now that were coming to the end of 2013, I would revisit them and see if I managed to achieve, or at least stick to any of my 13 resolutions!

It's always a pretty hard one to judge, but I think on a general scale I probably have been a lot happier in 2013. Once I'd finished school and all the exams that went with it, I think I was relieved to get away from a lot of the people that ever put me in a bad mood, and so naturally making me a lot happier. Lets hope it continues!

When I read back my New Years Resolutions this year, I realised I had contradicted myself. Although I want to be independent in having my own money, getting myself from A to B and doing certain things alone, I also wanted to stop being the one to look after everyone else, and let myself be the one that needs looking after sometimes. I think in 2013 I've moved closer to that than I ever have.

This is probably one of my biggest successes in these resolutions as in 2013 I became (probably) as financially independent as any 16 year old can. I finally got myself a job doing something I really enjoy and I'm in control of my own spending and saving, just what I wanted!

Again this is a hard one to judge, I guess the true verdict would come from you guys! Personally I think I've tried to improve all aspects of my blog this year, which included putting a lot more thought in to the types of posts I produce.

I've had mixed success with this one. Although I got a job and therefore an income, I don't save as much as I'd like to. Every so often a few products creep on to the wishlist meaning a trip to Boots or Selfridges, and everyone knows once you're there its hard not to go a little crazy sometimes! I'm off to the US next year and so I'd like to grow a bit of funding, but so far I'm only a fraction of the way there!

More mixed success! I definitely go out more than I did last year, but even so there's room for improvement!

100% achieved! Once I finished school back in June my life pretty much turned upside down. I feel like you cant ever really have the greatest life when you're locked up in a classroom 7 hours a day! Thankfully I managed to get a good balance by the time I went to college!

I really didn't think I'd do this one as I was never really 'in to' books. However, I've definitely read a lot more this year. I think I read The Hunger Games series about 4 times over.

I've had great success upping my water intake. I wanted to see if drinking more water would improve my skin at all, and for the most part I think it did! I'll definitely continue!

I appreciate that to the majority of you this probably sounds ridiculous, but I've never really been 'pushed' to use public transport which somewhere along the line helped me to develop a bit a 'fear'. Public buses are still my idea of hell on Earth but I've started using trains a lot more this year, It makes my life so much easier, I like it!

This is probably the biggest fail of them all. As long-term followers will know, I've had weight issues for close to a decade now so I was a little naive to think this might be possible. Having said that I have gained and maintained around 3 or 4lbs leaving me feeling a lot healthier than before! My main aim was to be in the 'normal' BMI category but as yet, I'm not there. Perhaps It could be a 2014 resolution?

Over the course of 2013 I've come to realise you don't necessarily need to have a set-in-stone plan of where you're going. I'm not saying I'm a fan of 'winging-it' but I'm definitely more relaxed now, and I like it!

Hey guys! My name is Amira and I blog over at Holy Chic and I was invited over here by the lovely Ayla to do a guest post for her. So I am going to start by telling you guys a little bit about myself. I would consider myself to be mostly a fashion blogger however I do sometimes do beauty posts, DIY’s and reviews or anything random.

I have only been blogging for a little while now, but I have honestly spoken to some amazing people and I just love the overall experience of blogging at the moment. Thank you for giving me the chance to do this guest post on her blog because words can’t even describe how amazing it really is. So all of that aside, today I am going to be doing a Lorde inspiration Style Steal. I am absolutely obsessed with Lorde; her music, fashion and just her overall look on life and seeing things from her perspective. Her style and overall fashion sense is really interesting and i feel like there is something in it for everyone. And hey, it won’t hurt to get some more fashion ideas for the up and coming temperature change. Of course you can add more layers or less depending on where you live but this is just the basics of her outfits. So I hope you guys enjoy.

This first look is really interesting because it takes one of the big summer trends of pinafores and makes it more autumn/winter appropriate. Pair it with a crisp white collared shirt and some chunky platform boots to get Lordes’ edge.

For look two, this is a very simple, clean cut dress. And midi/maxi dress will do with tights and some chunky ankle boots which seem to be a staple piece in her wardrobe.

In the third look, we can see a clash of colours, print and textures and different textures are really in this autumn/winter. So to make it more seasons appropriate, switch it up. Go for some monochrome patterned trousers and a brightly coloured fluffy jumper. Add a touch of mess class with these patent brogues and some socks

In the fourth look, we see black on black but again, playing with the textures. This is a great way to get away with wearing all black this time of year. Pair a mesh cropped top with a black strap top, pleather skirt and the same boots as look 1. Wearing all black can work and look good in this case.

Looking at outfit 5, we can see that Lorde only adds a splash of colour to this outfit, so take a bright coloured patterned top/shirt to achieve the same look. Looking at outfit 6, a matching set was really in for spring/summer time and this look can still be wearable in the autumn/winter too. I couldn’t find one like Lorde’s but you can keep in with another big autumn trend and go for a check print two piece. The colours are muted in keeping with the weather. Add some tights and more layers if necessary and and some buckle ankle boots to complete the look.

Featured Blogger posts were always intended to be a happy, upbeat post sharing the love for other bloggers, so It almost feels wrong to start of with a massive apology for essentially *disappearing off the face of the Earth* for the past few weeks. I haven't even been tweeting, which anyone that follows me will recognize as some pretty odd behavior. I had to take a little break from blogging but I'm hoping to be back. What better way to return than with a Featured Blogger post? I only recently met Alexandra (you may remember she wrote an amazing guest post a few weeks ago which you can read here). You'll all know by know I'm very very fond of Alexandra's blog 'The A Style'. Her photos are honestly some of the best I've seen, and its one of the few blogs that I love absolutely everything she posts about. If that wasn't enough to make you want to pop over to see what she's all about - she's also Canadian, do I need to say anymore?! Once again I've pestered Alexandra for a little blog interview, so you can learn a bit more about her and her blogging antics.

In less than 50 words, tell us a little about yourself, and your blog

Hello my name is Alexandra. I'm from Montreal, and am 21 years old. I'm a lover of anything beauty related, books, and TV shows. I will soon be starting a makeup artist course, and am so excited! My blog is something that I love to work on, and includes loads of beauty reviews, wishlists, and some lifestyle bits with bright clear photographs.

When and why did you initially start blogging?

I started my blog a year ago in September really out of nowhere! I had been reading blogs on and off for years, and felt like I too could be a fashion blogger but that quickly switched to beauty after a couple months in because I was and am more passionate about that subject! I mainly started it because I wanted to have a hobby that would bring some creativity out of me, and writing was the one thing I was good at! I also discovered that photography was something that I started being good at!

Do you have any tips or ideas for someone wishing to start a blog?

Don't go into it head first without any research like I did! I didn't know anything about blogging and how it worked. Here is an example: For months I didn't know I could enlarge my pictures and was never happy with them being too small and when I found out, I felt stupid because of how simple it was! Also be true to who you are and don't write about something just because others are doing it because the readers will know when it doesn't come from the heart! Just write about what you are passionate about and have fun!

Do you feel you've taken anything out of being part of the blogger community?

I've learnt how to manage my blog so that it is constantly updated with new posts without me feeling like I had to write anything! I've never had a hobby that I've actually enjoyed, and my blog is something that I love writing and realized that if I truly enjoy doing something, it won't be something I will dread! I also love the fact that I can read honest reviews on other people's blog, and love to see their perspective of things! Also the best thing that has come from blogging, is all of the amazing people I've gotten to know! It is good to see that other people are as passionated about something as I am because nobody in my friends, or family understand how much I love writing!

What are your 5 favourite products right now?

<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">Hello lovely people! For those of you who don't know me, I'm Megan and I blog over at student-stylexo I am a beauty blogger who likes to review and talk about student friendly beauty products. I'm excited to be guest posting for Rachael and sharing my views on the MUA create your own palette with all her lovely readers! If you like what you read then head on over to my little blog for more of the same kind of thing.
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">

<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">So, on my latest browse of the MUA website I discovered that you could create your own blusher, bronzer or eyeshadow palettes for under £8! Like a typical blogger I was hooked and had to buy two. I decided to purchase the black & red palettes, one for eyeshadows and the other for blushes.

<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">The palettes were on sale for £2 each and the shades were also on sale for £1.65 which is super cheap. I chose 4 eyeshadows and 4 blushers, you can also buy bronzers too. The shades come in individual packaging which you then pop out and press them into the palette. It was really simple and easy to do yet it looks so expensive.

<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">I love all four of these shades for different reasons, they are all shimmer shades and Double Take is a baked eyeshadow with several different colours blended together. I love Silver Lining to use in the centre of the lid to reflect the light. It's also a really lovely colour to use to create a dramatic smokey eye in the inner corners. Honey is a shade I would never buy but it's really nice blended with Maybelline 24 hour colour tattoo in pink gold and applied in the crease. Berry Brown is a gorgeous brown with speckles of gold and purple which again looks gorgeous in the crease. This is a really nice colour for this time of year and looks lovely as an everyday shade. Finally, double take is a browny, gold shade that create a lovely copper shade. I love using this as a base shade with Berry Brown in the crease. All the shades are really pigmented and last on the eyes for around 4-6 hours without a primer which I think is pretty good. They are also really easy to blend.

<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">I love a good blusher and I think a girl can never have to many so I tried to buy a few varied shades than my current collection. Cinnamon is a lovely matte brown shade which could be used as a bronzer, this would be perfect for when you have a lovely tan. Flush is a gorgeous nudey pink shade which I use for every day wear. It applies lovely and give a nice pink tint to the apples of the cheek. Amber Glow is a crazy pink, coral, glitter shade I've not used this much as it is SUPER pigmented and I'm scared of looking like a clown but as the Christmas season approaches I think i'll be giving this a whirl. It reminds of an 'in your face' version of Sleek's Rose Gold. Finally, London is another baked product mixed with brown, pink and rose coloured pigments. This is my favourite of the four blushes as it gives a lovely, subtle wash of colour. Just be careful when applying these blushes as they are so pigmented that you can end up looking a little silly.

I've been reading Rachael's blog for months, and always enjoy the posts she puts up because it always seems like she's put so much effort into her posts! When Rachael asked for guest bloggers, I jumped to the chance because I wanted to be part of her blog! My name is Alexandra, and you can find me at www.the-astyle.blogspot.ca To me, having long healthy hair has been something I've always wanted but was never able to tend to my hair properly. Ever since I cut my hair back in February, I've been taking extra care, and I think I've finally found the routine to ensure I have healthy hair and that it grows instead of always breaking off!

1. L'Oréal - EverCrème Shampoo & Conditionner
I've used the same shampoo almost all my life, and felt like it just didn't do anything for my hair so before summer started, I went on the hunt for a new shampoo, and conditioner. The EverCrème collection caught my eye, because of the fact that it is sulfate free, paraben free, and 100% vegan. The coconut-vanilla scent is just perfect to help me relax when I am in the shower. I've really been impressed by how it has kept the moisture locked in my hair ever since I started using it. My hair feels very soft whenever I use it!

2. L'Oréal - Deep Nourishing Masque & Macadamia Oil - Deep Repair Masque
The L'Oréal, and Macadamia Oil mask have helped me a lot, and are my two current favorite hair masks. They smell amazing, work fast, and always leave my hair feeling nourished, and soft! Even if my hair isn't looking dull, and I haven't used heat on it, I try to use a masque at least once a week, because my hair always looks and feels great after using it!

3. Macadamia Oil - No Tangle & Healing Oil Infused Comb
I have the worst hair possible once it is wet, because it gets knotted so quickly, which then results in me trying to brush my hair for at least 10 minutes. The No Tangle spray has been a lifesaver for me. Whenever I use it, brushing my hair becomes the easiest task, brings my hair extra nutrient, and since brushing becomes so much easier, my hair doesn't break off. I also try to comb my hair whenever they are wet, because it is so much easier, and is another way for me to prevent breakage. Now I don't really know if the comb has helped bring nutrient to my hair, but I know that when I use it, my hair pulls less, and gets the job done quickly!

4. Organix - Argan Oil Penetrating Oil & Lush - R&B Butter
This is my favorite part of my hair routine. I find that hair oil, and hair butter is that one product that gives me instant result whenever I use them. I like applying it in the morning before I leave my house to the ends of my hair to make sure the weather doesn't dry it up. The smell of these products is so perfect, and I quite enjoy the fact that it lingers on my hair throughout the day!

5. Hair Ties
The last step to my hair care routine might seem odd, but I find that whenever I use hair ties in my hair, my hair thanks me for it. I find that hair elastics pull too much, and my hair also gets knotted into them resulting in so much breakage. The hair ties are thick enough to hold my hair but never leave a crease in it. It also helps that they come in so many different colors, and patterns!

All of these products have helped my hair grow longer, and make sure that it doesn't dry, and break. I am quite happy with the routine that I keeping up at the moment but am always on a lookout for new products!

What do you think of my hair care routine? Which product do you like using to make sure your hair looks healthy?

When I saw Rachael's post about guest blogging I jumped at the chance - A Is For Ayla is such a lovely blog and I'm really grateful for the chance to contribute! My name is Lily and you can find me at www.jolihouse.com, where I blog about life as a 15 year old in north west England, my outfits, trips etc. and occasionally my original knitwear designs. I properly started blogging a few months ago, and I thought it might be nice to share my favourite aspects so far! So why blog?

There are literally thousands of UK bloggers, so what can I possibly bring to this party - latecomer that I am? The beauty of blogging, I think, is it's diversity. My taste is actually quite random, as I am equally likely to be found browsing the big lifestylers like The Londoner, as I am laughing my head off at Allie of Hyperbole and a Half. I especially love it when I find posts that are just soooo relatable. You know, when you have a real 'wow I'm not the only one' moment - anyone else get this? It's especially nice to come across someone a similar age to me and from the same patch, like Rachael. As the perks of blogging go (and there are many), the social element is by far my favourite. It's great when someone new drops me a comment, and it often amazes me how much it's possible to have in common with people you've never met! I swear there's some people I could've been separated from at birth. Do you have a blogger twin?

I've always liked to write, and blogging gives me the perfect excuse to waffle on about whatever I want. It makes a change to be able to write without worrying about the exam criteria! Take OOTD posts for instance - I like the chatty ones best where people share little insights into their day. No tiny detail is too trivial for me. Love it all For this reason I try to accompany all my OOTD photos etc. with little snippets of what I've been up to, as I really do feel that it's easier to get to know bloggers who share a bit about themselves. I think inside every blogger lurks a bit of an inner nerd. It's definitely given me scope to indulge mine. It's ridiculous how long I've deliberated over the exact shade of greyish blue for my background! Someone tell me I'm not the only one to do this? Rachael's 'Layout Tips and Tricks' can help here. It feels so techie tinkering with HTML and SEO codes and the like! I can't wait to finish making my little corner of the internet look exactly how I want, so here's to a load more faffing about!

I've read a couple of articles recently saying that blogland is reaching saturation point. It would be kinda disappointing seeing as I'm just getting into it haha! What do you think? Is there infinite room for new writers? What makes you return to a blog? I'd be really interested to know.

Thanks again to Rachael for lending me this space!

Hello! I'm Elise and I blog at elisedopson.com. I am here doing a quick guest post on the lovely Rachael's blog about my favourite drugstore products. Although I do love saving and splurging on my high-end makeup, makeup from drugstores like Boots and Superdrug will always be one I love experimenting with. Over the years I've found my top 5 holy grail drugstore makeup products, and squished them into this little post. So, here are my drugstore gems!

L'Oreal Superliner
I like to switch up and alternate with powder, gel and liquid liner to give different looks, but L'Oreal's Superliner is my best liner for creating a winged, cat-eye line. The nib holds just enough product and is the perfect shape for creating a thin or thick line with an easy wing.

Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer
This will probably be nothing new to you whatsoever as it is a holy grail concealer in the beauty blogger world. It has a very full coverage and will cover anything from spots to freckles and red patches. For only £3.99 you really can't go wrong!

Maybelline Mega Plush Volum' Express
This product was actually a funny one for me because when I originally bought it, I hated it with a passion. The formula was too wet and runny yet ended up clumping my lashes, but when I returned to it a few months later I loved it. It separates my lashes (without clumping) and adds and nice, even coat on my lashes.

Bourjois Colorboost
I remember a few months back, every man and their dog raved about these. They're almost identical to Clinique's Chubby Stick with 4 gorgeous shades. My favourite has to be 'Peach on the Beach', which is a beautiful light pink colour. They glide on with ease and are very luxurious and glossy. I also recently read that they're bringing out a few more shades for Autumn and Winter. Yay!

Rimmel Stay Matte Powder
Yet again one of the most loved drugstore products, and rightly so it is. The perfect cheap powder for only a mere £3 or £4. It can look quite cakey if you overload it, but I suppose that's the same with any powder. It sets makeup and concealer nicely and stays all day. I really can't fault it.
