Recently I've been a bit bored of using the same blush shade so I wanted to invest in a few more, very different shades. After asking around on Twitter I must have had Sleek blushes recommended to be about 40 times. I'd heard wonderful thinks about the soft formula which picks up easily and isn't chalky in the slightest! Rather than buying the individual pans I decided to get a palette purely because the shades were what I wanted, and it made storing it much easier. I went for 'Lace' as I thought it would be the easiest to pull of with my skin tone and the shades were a little 'samey' in some of the other ones. The shades are almost intimidating when you first open the palette and they do take a bit of blending, I apply these with the RT contour brush from the Core collection. With the two outer shades you do run the risk of looking like a clown. The palette has two matte shades and a shimmer in the centre.
The orange shade, 'crochet' is a tangerine orange in the pan but transfers on to the skin as a darker orange which unfortunately on my skin tone (medium olive) makes my face look very orange, even when its just on the tip of my cheeks. I think this shade would look great on pale or dark skintones, just not for medium.
The middle shade, 'guipure' is probably the most wearable shade in the palette. The coral pink with gold shimmer has been likened to another Sleek blush, 'Rosegold' which was hailed as a highstreet dupe for the famous Nars Orgasm'. You'll be a glad to know not all of the shimmer transfers, so it doesn't leave you looking like a glitterball.
The final shade 'Chantily' is possibly the most unusual blush shade I've ever seen. Its a hot pink mixed with coral and is very very pigmented, it blends out to an almost-red coral. I'd say if you were thinking of buying this palette be weary if you have very pale skin, as a shade like this could make your skin look red and blotchy, the polar opposite of what makeup is supposed to do.
I know some of the things I've said about this palette would give the impression I dislike it however I am glad I bought this palette as I think its always nice to have a wide choice of blush shades in your collection. A palette like this is a cost effective way of getting a few very different shades for a fraction of the amount it would cost you to buy them separately. Although I probably wouldn't wear these shades on an every day basis (Guipure maybe, at a push) they're the perfect shades for a special occasion. I'd probably wear these blushes with a simple LBD and amp up the makeup, it's a great alternative to a bold lip and would look amazing with a darker eye!
Have you tried Sleek blushes?
