MUA Eyeliner Review

Make Up Academy New Intense Colour Eyeliner in 'Bright Orange'

Now I know your probably sat thinking a medley of 3 words - orange, eyes, ill then probably followed by a 'is she crazy?!' or a similar alternative. You may have noticed that in an earlier post I asked for your recommendations on orange lipsticks and I came across this MUA eyeliner along my search. Now there is no way I'd even think about wearing this on my eyes out in public, its purely for the lips. I figured it would be a good way to see how orange lips work on me, especially since it cost me just £1, much less than the MAC and Topshop lipsticks I'm hoping to try.

Now when MUA say intense colour, they mean it. Although I'll admit, I'm not as fond of the colour as I had hoped to be. It's just a little too red for my liking - I was looking for a tangerine orange and it appears my hunt is still on. Nonetheless, this is a great piece to have in my collection. I shall continue to use as a liner for not only orange lipsticks, but for yellow toned reds too! The texture is creamy but not so soft you cant get a clean line around the lips. It's not one single bit drying, in fact it almost feels like its adding moisture to my lips. I'm in complete awe over this product, but I'll be honest one  big downer for me is the fact that this slides when its on the lips so it means after eating, drinking and general wear you'll have to top up the centre of the lips. But its not too much of a problem because everybody knows wearing bright colours your going to have to do a bit of maintenance work along the way. Oh and is this bright!
Hmm, what do we think? I'm not convinced I love it

Summary:
Product - MUA Intense Colour Eyeliner in 'Bright Orange'
Advantage - On trend orange lips for only £1
Disadvantage - Slips a little on the lips
Suits - Oranges are difficult to pull off, try it and make a personal judgement against your skin tone.
Pigmentation - Extremely strong, cannot fault!
Availability - £1 - Only at Superdrug
Overall score - (8/10)

Nikon L120 Photography Sample

'Oooh she leaves us for a week then gives us a picture of a flower, typical!'

No really, sorry for my absence. It's been a busy past week, I've got a Statistics grade back - A B if you were wondering. I also sat my Spanish speaking today too - If your extremley curious it was an A* aswell as celebrating 3 birthdays, one of which was my own. If you had'nt noticed the little caption under my photo (as well as my photo) have changed. Extreme moment of proudness when I get to change that little 14 to a rather big 15. I'll probably post a bit more about my birthday another day, if your interested that is? Also, just before I go, I wanna say a huge thankyou to Leah Loves Beauty aswell as 901Lovely for giving me the Versatile Blogger award, I've already recieved this what feels like 900 times but thankyou all the same! Oh and sorry for the flower, I know its not very beauty nor fashion related. I've just been messing with my camera the past few weeks and thought this turned out well enough to post when I had not much else to say!

No7 Eye Blend & Contour Brush

A few days ago I hauled the No7 Eyeshadow Blend And Contour Brush and now that I've had a few days to test it out I figured I'd go into a little more detail for you all. If your looking at this brush thinking you could probably get away with buying this 1 brush for your allover colour, your blend and your contour you are very much mistaken. The brush is purely a blending brush for me, applying any colour with this would be impossible. For me, buying No7 brushes is not a frequent thing, I only ever buy them discounted using the £5 off vouchers Boots issue around 4 times a year. My initial thought of the brush was 'OMG these bristles are sooooo soft!' I then proceeded to run around my house swiping it across my family's faces shouting 'feel how soft this is' - as you do. Then I read the wallet and realised why - natural hair. I can now understand why these brushes average at £8 a pop. It almost made me feel quite bad for neglecting these brushes earlier because of their price. I'd defiantly buy more.
The brush comes in a plastic wallet style thing (almost like a very tiny pencil case) which if I were you I'd keep hold of because I'd imagine its quite good for travelling with. You can fit at least 5 brushes in there. One of the only downsides of this product for me is the handle, its quite short and much thicker in comparison to my other Mac, Estee Lauder and EBay brushes. Its takes a bit of getting used to. Also if I'm gonna be extremely picking the large writing across the handle doesn't do much for me either. It would look a lot less tacky if the font was a little smaller. (My gosh reading that back I sound like such a little tit bit!)
At first use, the brush shed no hairs. The hairs are tapered which would suggest it would be great for contour however it just doesn't do the trick for me. Blending only. The head itself is very dense yet soft on the eyes, I find it works amazingly for blending out colour on the lower lash line, banishing the harsh lines and tying the entire look together. Overall I can announce that this is a definite favourite for me, I'm in love!

*On another note, can anybody recommend me a good orange lip gloss or lipstick? I mean like full on tangerine orange. The nearest I've found is MAC Sheen Supreme in 'Sheer Mandarin' any suggestions?

Boots & Primark Haul

Leopard Skirt - £4 Primark / Garnier Grape Toner - Superdrug £3 £1.50 / Batiste Dry Shampoo in 'Blush' - Boots £2.99 / Collection 2000 Pressed Powder in 'Translucent' - Boots £1.99 / Natural Collection Body Spray in 'Vanilla' - Boots £2.03 / No7 Eye Blend & Contour Brush - Boots £7.25 £2.25

I'm not sure why but all of a sudden I'm turning into a money saving enthusiast! I cant stop myself from scouring out good deals and getting my essentials on the cheap. The skirt, I bought after being isnpired by Superficial Girl. I'm obsessed with toner and figured I'd just pick this one up because it was cheap (selected brands half price @ superdrug) and yet still with a brand I know and trust. Also, I've only ever tried the Mango NC body spray and heard raving reviews about the Vanilla one, I can certainly agree its a warming sent to pick you up in the winter months! Now me being a self confessed bargain freak I strategically split my boots haul in order to get 2 of the No7 £5 off vouchers (these deals are amazing, why not take advantage?) with one of which I picked up the eye brush which shall be making an appearance in a post later this week.

Update & Mini Haul

Please do excuse the fact I've been a bit MIA recently. This is probably down to the fact I have an unreal amount of homework and tons of exams. A huge thank you to those that gave me good luck messages, however I'm afraid I don't think they worked. I got my science result back this week and lets just say its not amazing. I've also got Statistics exam and  a Spanish speaking exam on Tuesday. I feel extremely confident about Spanish as I'll be honest its probably the only thing I'm good at! My teacher tells me I am most definite to get an A* as I'm working at A Level standard, you can only image the Cheshire cat grin on my face when she told me that! As for stats, well meh! I hate it, I'm not great at it and I'm lucky if I get a B.

In other news, here are a few bits I picked up the other day. The ring pictured above is from Topshop and I got it from £5 down to £1.50!! Pleased was not the word! I just picked up two basic shirts from Primark that were £4 each (not on sale) one in a oaty colour to go with my next purchase and one in red. I'm not entirely sure what possessed me to buy a bright red T-shirt but hey! lets roll with it! And if you've been a very long term follower, you'll know I have an OBSESSION with blazers and tailoring. Here's just another to my collection! You shall have to excuse how it looks a bit funny, my camera doesn't photograph certain materials very well. From New Look and £35 down to £12 - bargain!
And now back to watching all 5 Series of Skins!

The Verdict:
Overall I'm not crazy over this lookbook, which is unusual for me since im such a die hard Primark fan. The styling is good as its taken into account the biggest Spring trend thats sort of 'Cruise Collection' inspired (see Versace S/S) however, I think it could have been better. In my opinion, some of these pieces are just plain ugly e.g pictures 7 & 9. YUCK! I'd say the only nice pieces are picture's 8 & 11. Although i'll give primark kudos for their colour schemes, which to me look pretty spot on. Orange is the top colour for spring aswell as coral and turquoise close behind.

Maybelline Single Eyeshadow in 'Nude Beige'

I picked this up recentley on a complete whim as I've been trying to steer away from the dark, grey smokey eyes and more towards the brigher beige, brown eyes. Maybelline being a brand I often put my trust in for eye makeup (I will only ever use their mascaras!) I decided just to go for it, it was pretty inexpensive too which is always a plus!

'Nude Beige' is actually more of a shimmer champagne colour. The formula is average, sometimes a little chalky. This doesnt really matter for meas I've found this looks beautiful as a highlight on very bronzed skin (something I've been loving recentley!) and so It's never applied too heavily to look caked-on. However, it does also look lovely applied as a base under a pale matt shadow to give off a 'glow' making you looked wide-awake and healthy, something I've really needed as I've been working in a primary school recentley, running around after 90 3, 4 & 5 year olds is tiring!

Boots Cosmetics Haul

At the time Collection 2000 was on 3 for 2 and so I picked up 3 of the Lasting Perfection Concealers and saved myself £4 on something I knew I was going to repurchase anyway. As you can see in the photo I purchased 2 shades, 1 in Fair and 2 in Light because im infamous for picking wrong shades, with this method I can hardly go wrong. Its amazing coverage has managed to mask my undereye bags from all my late nights during the holidays. I also bought 2 nail polishes in 'Milkshake' which is a lovely brown in the bottle, but more of a nude on the nails. I needed a new nude polish acceptable for school and thought i'd deter away from my usual Maybelline Forever Strong Pro that I raved about here. Despite the bottle in the colour being completley missleading, it does the job just fine.

Collection 2000 Hot Looks in 47 'Milkshake'

I picked up the Natural Collection Lipliner in 'Ruby Rose' as it was the only brand to contain a cheap lip liner I needed at the last minute. In the pencil it appears pink but also works very well for red lipstick with blue undertones. I loved the lip liner so much I at a later date decided to pick up another in 'Almond'. Watch out for a seperate post on these! Also out of the corner of my eye I caught a glimpse of their Eyeshadow Duo in 'Mocha/Latte' and immediately recognised it from one of Olivia's posts, I picked it up without even giving it another thought. Im not crazy about the 'Latte' shade however I am head over heels in love with the 'Mocha' shade, its so pigmented!
Please excuse the fact theres been so many hauls recentley. Christmas means money! I guess you'll all be delighted to know my birthday is soon too!
