Blog Layout Tips & Tricks #5: How To Save Your Layout Design Template

In the last post I spoke about how important exporting your blog is. Saving or 'backing up' your blog template layout design is equally as important. If you make a big mistake when attempting to edit your blog layout yourself that you later regret, you can undo it by uploading your old blog design. It's even more simple than exporting your blog so there's no excuse!
Go to Template > Backup/Restore > Download Full Template > Save
Like exporting your posts and comments, the template will save to your hard drive so you can access it whenever. You can then upload or 'restore' your template in the same way to reverse any new changes. As I mentioned in the last post, I use backing up and restoring my layout designs to make my test blogs more accurate. They can help you get a clearer image of what changes to your template will look like on your 'real' blog, without disturbing readers or making dangerous, hard to reverse changes.
